Termites
Termites cause more structural damage than any other pest.
With an average population density of 4-6 colonies every 1/2 acre of land, and an unquenchable thirst for wood, all wooden structures are at risk.

Its not a matter of if your home will get termites, but when.
The Eastern Subterranean Termite is the only species of termite that lives in Indiana. These termites live in colonies, with very many individual termites in each colony.

How do you know if a structure has termites?
When in doubt, call a professional. Termites invade structures by burrowing up from the ground, into the wood. If they need to traverse concrete, bricks, or cinder blocks to reach the wood then they will build mud tubes to travel along, as they go from the colony to the food source (wood) in the structure. Many times these mud tubes are the only visible sign of a termite infestation - our inspectors are experts at spotting these tubes. It's best to stop termites from ever invading a structure, but if they do we have experience exterminating them.
How to treat for termites?
Industry best standard is to use liquid pesticide application. Termidor® is the product we most commonly use for termite treatments. Although is requires special equipment and training to use it, it is very effective. With precision targeted application techniques, a protective barrier of liquid pesticide is applied underground along the foundation of the home. This treatment binds to the soil, withstanding storms, rainfall, and winter freezing for up to 7-10 years.
What if the termites are in an ecologically sensitive area?
It is not always possible or preferable to apply liquid pesticide directly into the ground around the foundation of a structure. in those cases we have an excellent treatment option, ADVANCE® termite bait stations.
Termite bait stations are a common method of exterminating termites, designed for destroying entire colonies; this doesn't involve permeating the soil with liquid pesticides which cause mortality in off-target species, instead the bait stations offer targeted, dependable control of termites.
